As expected, New Jersey has joined the state of Delaware in seeking a federal court order that would halt the planned dredging of the Delaware River by the Army Corps of Engineers next year. Last week, the New Jersey attorney general filed suit in Trenton federal court, seeking to block the project on environmental grounds. Now, they’ve asked to join in the suit Delaware’s AG filed in Wilmington in late October after the Army announced they were going ahead with the dredging from Cape May to Philadelphia -- with or without state permits. A hearing on Delaware’s suit is tentatively set for early next month.
